Malabar, Joyalukkas & Dar Al Sabaek Gold Rate in Kuwait – How Shops Set Prices
By Editorial team ·

Every day thousands of people in Kuwait search for the Malabar gold rate, the Joyalukkas gold price in Kuwait or the Dar Al Sabaek price. The gold rate these shops show is almost the same, because they all start from one number: the international price of gold converted to Kuwaiti dinar. What changes is everything that is added on top.
Where the daily gold rate in Kuwait comes from
Gold is priced worldwide in US dollars per troy ounce (31.1035 g). Shops in Kuwait divide the ounce price by 31.1035, convert it to dinar at the day's exchange rate and adjust for the karat. That gives the raw price per gram: today about 36.711 KWD for 22K and 40.049 KWD for 24K. Because the dinar is managed against a basket of currencies rather than fixed to the dollar, the dinar price can move a little even when the dollar price of gold does not.

So why are bills different between shops?
- Making charge: the biggest difference – a fixed amount per gram or a percentage, depending on the design and brand.
- Stones: diamonds and gems are priced separately from the gold.
- Offers: making-charge discounts, festival promotions and advance-booking plans that lock a rate.
- Bullion vs jewellery: bullion dealers such as Dar Al Sabaek sell bars with a small premium over the raw price, while jewellery carries a higher making charge.
Kuwait does not charge VAT on gold, so the bill is mostly gold value plus making charge.
How to compare two quotes fairly
- Ask for the weight, the karat and the gold rate used.
- Ask for the making charge in dinar, not only as a percentage.
- Divide the total by the weight to get an all-in price per gram, and compare that number.
- Keep the itemised invoice – it matters when you sell or exchange later.

FAQ
Is the Malabar gold rate in Kuwait different from Joyalukkas?
The daily gold rate is usually the same or very close because both follow the international price in dinar; final prices differ by making charge and offers.
Is Dar Al Sabaek's price the official gold price in Kuwait?
No single shop sets an official price. Dar Al Sabaek is a well-known dealer whose prices follow the same international rate as everyone else.
Is there VAT on gold in Kuwait?
No. Kuwait has not introduced VAT, so gold jewellery and bars are sold without it.
